What Gunther says in Panel Three was one of the major reasons my thinking processes locked me out of approaching girls in my teens.BTW God is most obviously a masculine entity.

I don’t have a problem with this story line, but dang I wish Gunther would unbutton that top button!!! At least he got rid of the glasses. And he doesn’t seem to have as much of that goofy toothy look he used to have.

I remember when Luann was interested in Ben, Stuart, Aaron and I probably missed a few. Yeah, she stumbled around like a fool, too. And when a guy was actually interested in her too, is when she bailed. Like she did with Miguel and Quill. She’ll play the unrequited love game. She enjoys being lovesick. Just don’t expect her to follow through. She’ll get you interested and leave you hanging. Select another role model, Gunth.

i thought the Greg bashing yesterday was because of the stale/rehashed storyline, not because of the characters.

Thankk you, Knute. You’re quite right – we females are quite more evolved. And yet men run things around here. Yeah, yeah, women really run things behind their backs – that’s why we are way more evolved.

It’s a strip about high school kids, and high school kids are generally in agony about the opposite sex. I have two of them in my home right now, and it’s true for them.

Okay, this is completely not relevant to Rosa and Gunth, but it’s a funny story.

A friend of mine liked this girl in High School, he told her he loved her. Know what she said? Thank you, and pats his hand. So for a while whenever he said, “I love you.” Her response was always “Thank you” Took a while for her to say “I love you too!”

Females are SMARTER.Always HAVE Been Always WILL be.They are MASTER Strategists and Tacticians and the “Male” doesn’t STAND a Chance, EXCEPT on those RARE occasions when THEY Let You Win. So FORGET it, Gunth. You Can’t OUT Think them……,….., EXCEPT when it comes to FIXING the MECHANICAL Stuff! -- “Said Mordock RUNNING for His Life.”

Not true. Even after Gunther had gone out with Rosa, Luann was talking with Gunther at the library and Luann said something that made Gunther think he still has a shot with Luann. He’s comfortable with Luann.

Don’t feel so defensive about Greg and the bashing and run to his aid. If he continues to re-hash stuff over and over again it gets very tiring. He has other story lines that he can use that are better. If he wants to bore us, then he is on the right track. Who knows, he may be like Dickens and just writes additional stuff just to get more money out of it.

Gunther shows a certain underlying wit, but his fixation with his :fear" is going to be the obstacle that until overcome will keep him alone. Rosa has tried to prod him, but so far he has not responded, preferring instead to wallow in his demons….

@Raspberry:Man was created in the image of God, woman was not. Woman was created by God from man. Man was created from dirt. The explanation might lie there.Just curious—as an atheist, how do you explain life? Why are we here? How did we come to exist? What is truth?Very interested in your response.

Scatty: Yeah, the theology of most posters is pathetic. After all, the Septuagint, the “scriptures” to which the New Testament refers, clearly refers to the Holy Spirit in the feminine – Sophia. If Christians would pay more attention to both theology (relation to God) and ethics (relation to others), maybe atheism wouldn’t be growing so fast and the world falling apart. I have seen more Christianity in Jews like Martin Buber and Hindus like Mohandas K. Gandhi, than in those who say “Lord, Lord” and do not do the will of God.

Uh, “sophia” is merely the Greek translation of the Hebrew word for wisdom, …I agree that many professed Christians fall far short of the ideal Did you know that Gandhi considered becoming a Christian at one time, but decided he could be just as good a Christian by remaining Hindu?

Regarding readers of comics: Bitching and bitching and complaining and criticizing over and over again is a form of fandom. Greg knows this — ALL successful cartoonists know this. Whether it’s a strips you love to hate or a strip you can find no wrong in, if you are a regular reader you are a fan of the strip. Bill may sound like a harsh critic, but he cannot look away or stay away, All this traffic? That’s the sound of success, friends. Kudos to Evans. He understands this medium well. If you want to see bad, really bad comics, scout around in the Sherpa section of this site. There, people pay to have nobody read their work.

Curious as to whatever happen to the main character of this cartoon, “LUANN”? Seems that I can only read about her antics in the Sunday paper. If the list of characters has grown so much that it limits the escapades of Luann, then perhaps you shoud publish a second cartoon panel.

He didn’t almost date rape her. He kissed her in the car. The second she realized she was being kissed by a boy she froze and bailed. And the way she got Miguel was by stealing him from Delta. And Miguel was sent back to Spain because Tiff used him to steal a test paper from Gunther.

Deism is a silly, childish belief. Even Albert Einstein didn’t believe in a “God”. – Raspberry Ice“My religion consists of a humble admiration of the illimitable superior spirit who reveals himself in the slight details we are able to perceive with our frail and feeble minds. That deeply emotional conviction of the presence of a superior reasoning power, which is revealed in the incomprehensible universe, forms my idea of God.” – Albert Einstein

I don’t know what your concept of “Deism” is, but Einstein just defined it, above. And calling anyone’s religious belief “childish” and “stupid” – whether you’re an atheist with no invisible means of support, or the most devout worshipper the world has ever seen – is not only intolerant and ignorant, it’s really immature, arrogant, disrespectful and rude.

Christ was never arrogant – he was humble and accepted death so that all of us arrogant persons could be drawn to God. It’s unfortunate that some of His followers don’t follow His teachings very closely. But Einstein’s belief is based on his understanding of a very complex universe that takes TREMENDOUS faith to believe came into being by happenstance..A story is told that an evolutionist confronted God with the claim that he could evolve all of life from dirt. God said, “Go ahead, but you can’t use MY dirt.”

I am very devoutly a Christian (or Deist if you will) but will never again submit to the attendance or rules of any organized church. I have been greatly influenced by all the writings of Thomas Aquinas, but now reject the Catholic Church for many reasons. Current reading is Quo Vadis just reached Chapters regarding the burning of Rome (and I have read many other things about the times of earlier Caesars after seeing all of the works of Robert Graves on PBS- and reading them also). In my teens I studied more about all the early pagan religions after all the reading of Roman and Greek mythology. I find the real beliefs of historical peoples so much more interesting than totally fictional characters such as recent fictions choose to portray.

I think these guy’s are both in high school dealing with their own stuff. I don’t think hey care a bit about what we think. They just feel the way they do due to the lives they have lived. They still have time to learn. Not that women are aesy to learn but neither are you men. Strangest creatures on earth. The woman you want is in front of you and you go off and have relationshions with other women. Yes that is supposed to make us feel drawn to you. The fact that we know you will cheat will make us hot…… Leave gunther alone. He is doing the best he can, for now. Tho even I admit he needs to step it up or else loose her.

As long as people should “get it through their head”, you’re the only one that thinks Greg has that in mind. In spite of all that’s he’s written on his blog that contradicts your “truth”, has talked about in interviews how he indentifies most with Luann, you alone know the facts. Must be nice to be running Greg’s head for him.

Those 2 teens in real life will grow up and have a good mentor or a wife who gets them steered into a normal life. And some may actually be happy with something like a bicycle shop or may be successful in a big company, depends on talents and interests and we haven’t seen that much of theirs (other than acceptance of their peers).
