Hey kids. Well, it’s been fun. Flyingairman, you are a gentleman, a true gentleman. Mordock, watch the BP, you are funny. It has been a week now since the big “showdown”! let’s get back to the real reason this strip was created. Enough is enough!!

So, enough of Gunther already, ok? He’s sweet and all, but not exactly the reason I’m reading the strip.

There it is again! In frame 2. A curiously high inseam on this character.

I stll say I can’t wait to find out that Ox is Dirk’s younger brother!

This does not follow the script of My Bodyguard at all. In that movie, the nerd approached the tough guy specifically for protection. The tough guy was reluctant. And the tough guy it turned out was not stupid at all. And the initial bullying did not come about by Clifford standing up for his girlfriend, but attempting to stand up for himself. Also, in My Bodyguard, the bully was extorting money daily from Clifford and many other students.

I’m ready for Aaron Hill now…or Ann Eiffel…or mom & dad….or Puddles…or…OMG, new arc, PLEASE!!

Dumb? Like a fox! Ox is one of the few characters to actually have a plan. And, along with Delta, the only one with a plan for the good of others. You’re my friend too, ok?

And Vegasgirl, stop by for a visit. I’ll make coffee with chicory for you.

Gunther needs to watch out. Big dumb guys who you think are your friend will turn on you and beat you into the dirt when you least expect it.

Getting oxymoronic.

Wow, the wimp-befriends-bully concept is a common story line. Mice of Men. Then My Body Guard. Now Luann. It’s a comic, not high literature.

If you want high literature in drawing form for you to do armchair critical analysis, go read some of Alan Moore’s stuff.

To paraphrase a poster’s sig on another strip’s forum (Questionable Content):

It’s Greg’s comic, we’re just along for the ride.

Whining and complaining “are we there yet?” and poking the other passengers the entire way.

I’m confused. We seem to have Gunther running 2 consecutive story lines. I would have thought that Greg would have gone on to something else, and then return to the Gunther-Ox relationship at a later time. I like Gunther, but I miss the other characters.

You may have tutored math, but an inability to grasp improper fractions isn’t exactly a yardstick for day-to-day functionality. Anyone who’s 16 and confusing “guardian” with “gardener” is going to end up in special ed, not the mainstream HS population.

But hitting isn’t nice, Ox. Too bad Gunther didn’t think to say that to Ox while he was staring at Leslie’s fist.

Yes! Glad to see that others remember “the Bodyguard” ? Excellent movie ( http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0081207/ ) And I agree with PawnShadow: many differences between this story line and the movie. And thanks, Greg Evans, for years of enjoyable Luann.

Maybe this strip ought to be renamed Gunther.

Well I must say I am having to agree with the majority of the folks on how this is going LOL Oh well maybe it will be fishing weather soon and won’t have time to read comics every day.

Gunther has found his Lucca Brazzi — for those among us up on The Godfather.

Someone mentioned that Luann could have been the main character of this arc because girls get bullied too. Luann has her own personal bully – Tiffany. Tiffany may not threaten bodily harm (tho the two have been in physical fights before), but Tiffany constantly making fun of Luann’s hair, body, inability to get Aaron Hill – or any boy for that matter, are all forms of bullying! Sometimes those cut deeper than a fist!!
