OK: prediction time! Once Ann regains her power of speech, she’ll say that only people who order the “Mister Happy” meal can get a crown, and the big bad boss will once again try to ban Toni from the restaurant. Then the sparks will fly. The Fire Department may have to be called in.

Well, TJ is on the wrong side of the counter talking to people while, in the background, customers line up at another register. Ann barely tolerates him, giving into all his (admittedly ridiculous) demands for the sake of his sales skills, which he isn’t using if he’s not working.

Ah. As I thought yesterday, there would be a verbal sparring between the two! Ann, you are so toast. You will be so whupped. By a preschooler. Be prepared to be brought down to your knees.

In the last panel it looks like Toni has notice the resemblance between the two. She knows who will win in the battle for supreme entity. All Shannon has to do is scream bloody murder and Ann is out the door.

Shannon is NOT mini Eiffel, Shannon is just a kid growing up despite the situation she grew up in, she will change. Eiffel on the other hand is a total loss.

Is it just me? I get the feeling that Toni is there to figure out how to get Brad to marry her? Remember what she told the fire captain. I think she just didn’t like the way he asked “april fools” indeed.

TJ’s Gamefully employed is on the right track for anyone’s carreer/ It’s great to get paid for something you enjoy doing.

In this corner – Anne Eiffel, terror manager. In the opposing corner – Shannon, pint sized Queen and TERROR!. …. No bets accepted. Shannon is the winner. Queen trumps manager, no matter how old.

Am I the only person who isn’t going to hand Shannon a win before her confrontation with Ann? Eiffel has obviously had years of experience at bitchdom but I haven’t read this strip long enough to see Shannon in action. Knowing what little I know about this strip’s charcter history, I’m just not giving favorite odds to the kid yet.

Success with Shannon:.You have to have TJ’s approach to win Shannon over…. although Brad DID make some progress. Luann tried, but didn’t seem to score. Toni is resigned to lack of success. By my count, Men =1.5, women =0. Does that help, considering Ann’s personality quotient of .000001? – and that’s being generous.

I think it’s so much of a stretch that the elastic involved won’t take it – I’d sooner believe TJ will burn down WW before that! .Toni and her brother lived with their aunt and uncle, who raised them when their parents died – they were both very young, and it was stated that her brother didn’t take their death well, which is why he was “wild”. They all came to Pitts together @ 4 Luann years ago, in a car she bought from her uncle, so if they’re moving together like that, and all they have for immediate family is each other, it’s doubtful they were living so far apart that Toni never saw a single image of Shannon’s mother, let alone never knew who she was. .And while a lot of people get rid of photos of bad relationship partners, very few are so cold as to do that when there’s a child involved, because at some point every kid wants to know what their missing parent looks like.

I hope they never, ever team up.

Occam’s razor? The most likely solution is the one that which makes the fewest assumptions and thereby offers the simplest explanation. If so, then it’s too much of a stretch for Ann to be Shannon’s mom; there’s more simple and probable solutions.

Years ago when Luann still babysat Lindy, every now and then she also watched Lindy’s cousin Shannon. (Lindy’s Mom’s Sister’s kid) Shannon had black helmet-like hair and an attitude. Was drawn just like this Shannon. Probably not MEANT to be the same Shannon. But identical in looks and personality. But if it is the same Shannon, her mom is Lindy’s Mom’s Sister. :D

Greg can “change things” from the past strips, but…………… supposedly Shannon’s mom is very wild (much wilder than Toni’s brother) and much more irresponsible, left her because she was hindering her party time……… and Ann’s taste is geared toward young women, not toward men, so(unless Greg does a rewrite of past history) is highly unlikely that Ann is the mom of Shannon

They can both out-stare a creel of dead fish.

This is what makes LUANN so good: The theater! Get Fuzzy is also good theater – burt mostly confined to animals. Shannon enters. We haven’t seen her in a while, but her impact on Ann and the reason why clicks instantly.

I really don’t get it

nose, hair, chin, attitude—if they aren’t related, we sure are being lead to believe they are related—long-lost mom discovers daughter and decides to marry TJ, the only guy who can control both her and her long-lost daughter. hmmm

Shannon couldn’t even bring out the maternal instinct in a wolverine.

10 bucks says Ann turns out to be Shannon’s mother

While there seems to be some speculation among readers concerning Ann and Shannon being related, there may be another explanation. In the middle panel, it may possibly be a case of Ann seeing herself as a child, and Shannon seeing herself as an adult. Therefore (this is just one reader’s opinion), it is my theory that they appear to resemble each other because they have similar personalities. However, I would be happy to be wrong, which is usually the case when I try to outguess the creator/writer/artist of this strip.

I must say that my comment about people with similar personalities resembling each other does not apply in the “real world.” but it sometimes happens in the “comic world.”

Many people here feel that Luann is being ignored in her self-named strip lately— It’s sort of like the situation that began many years ago in “Judge Parker,” where the titular character only appeared on an occasional basis.

You know, I would love it if the two of them took an irrational liking to each other. That would be unexpected, funny, and humanize them both.

TJ could be on a break, they are allowed to have those you know. As to Ann vs. Shannon……Ann give up now, you’ve already lost. Also…her skirt is a little too short for someone in her position as manager.

Shannon will be doing drugs by 15, alternative school by 16. jail by 17, and hitting up family and anyone else for money for the rest of her life. Fortunately, for her, this is a cartoon strip and she’ll never get any older and will remain a pain in the butt until Greg retires. Does the French Foreign Legion take 5 year olds?
