Toni: "Did you see the memo from the fire chief?" Brad: "Yeah, Capt. Newman's retiring and-" Shannon: "This is BORING! Let's DO something!" Toni: "Just let us talk a minute, Shannon" Brad: "You could go watch tv" Shannon: "No! I wanna do something with YOU" Toni: "Brad and I don't get much time together. Give up 5 minutes, ok?" Brad: "That's all?" Shannon: "THAT's FOREVER!"
Toni has Shannon well trained to help keep Brad from getting too intimate. This seems to make it more likely that she will in fact ask Brad to adopt Shannon as soon as they get married, for that same purpose.
