No, you really don’t miss high school, but there are many times you can still share with each other about the funny things that seem even funnier now. It is going to take time to fully turn to college life, but for now, enjoy! ;)

They may soon miss the good old days, when Mr. Fogarty didn’t care what they handed in for homework or how well they did on the tests. Maybe their current institutions have actual standards for performance. Bernice can surely adjust to that, but can Luann?

Of course, we haven’t had the chance to see what Bernice’s day was like, but let’s try to imagine what kind of unique social outing she could have gone to with a hamster and a questionable paper bag, while waiting for her mysterious roommate to put in an appearance.-News flash: college kids hang out, too. AND some of them eat at fast food restaurants.

I had first period P.E. in college, and we had to wear these terrible gym outfits. The shorts were 1965 style skin tight stretch shorts, and the tops were gold and white horizontal stripes. Ugh!!! They weren’t any better than those onesie romper suits we had to wear in high school.

    > …. has Greg Evans, in your eyes, ever gotten something right ?>Of course he has. Today’s strip, for instance, is a perfectly believable interaction between these two particular characters, under this particular circumstance. However, when a character does something completely unbelievable (such as flying off to live in Peru, without spending even 10 minutes ahead of time learning what she would be getting into), then I shall call him out on it. This leads me to ask you the opposite of what you asked me: has Greg Evans, in your eyes, ever gotten something wrong (and if so, what)? It seems to me that many people herein apparently believe that Greg is always right, no matter what.

But then again, there are still some old storylines that we’re also waiting to see. I believe that once we focus on Brad and Toni, or “the Mobile Meltdown”, or “Plan Denial”, you’d see the “vim and vigor” because it’s centered on stuff that’s already “familiar” and that we’ve already been “invested” in….

Probably my favorite memory comes from a night at a football game my senior year of HS. Colder than a witch’s [*] that night. And it was a road game against our biggest rival school. Took me a while to realize that the cheerleaders were doing a hack to the tune of “When the Saints Go Marching In” in a key that was easily played by HS brasses. I played sousaphone; I took two trombones with me down to where the cheerleaders were set up, told Danny to play the melody and Bob to do the Dixieland rips; and when the cheerleaders came back around, I counted us in and off we went. Don’t know how long we kept that cheer going; but it was long enough for the band director to figure out what I’d done, and to bring down a bass drum, a snare drum, and the cymbalist. So now we had a whole rhythm section helping to push the cheer along. I think the girls started falling off before we were done playing. Just lost that band director earlier this year. Very sad day that was.

Gen “2” of the EBS test sound (2 toned). I recall when it was just the single tone you posted earlier and the broadcast of the “CD” slide. I assume that came from the old “air raid” drill days.

I was concerned, Kimosabe…. I thought maybe it was “the penalty box” (or the “Ex Box”, if you will….), – But I can understand your sitch! If you’ve got a nice library, it can be a nice spot to do research, quietly study, and so forth- but as far as seeing how the computers there go, If it’s like my public library is, you’ve got a “tough road to hoe”, as I’m sure they’d have a “time limit” and you have to “battle for the queue”. I’m sure you’ll be ecstatic once your system is back up and running….

Wow! Since my hub can’t really do much of anything (physically because of severe arthritis), he watches TV in the midst of building Lego sets on his computer most of the day. At night, we both are in bed reading good books! The problems with good books is that I have some from the library, a few from Amazon, some from Nat’l Geographic (have a gorgeous one on Alaska!), some from a Christian Book Club and some from a Christian Outlet Book Store. Oh, and of course, I get The National Geographic magazines and also Archaeology. For fun, I get a few different magazines about cross-stitching. The problem is that I have so many different things to read I don’t know where to start most evenings LOL! ;)

I, too, liked CCs better as far as the instructors being personally interested in the student and how s/he is getting along in their particular class. Went to 10 different ones on and off here and there. Wasn’t disappointed with any of them. And, their Intro courses didn’t have 200-400 students in a carnivorous concert-like hall!!! ;)
