Transcript:
Quill: "I'm helping Luann with an art project" Luann: "Be right out!?" Dad: "How's Moony Uni, Quill?" Quill: "Great. The theater department is amazing. And I've applied for a summer internship in New York to get the feel for real theater life!" Mom: "Sounds like you're right on track with your plans" Luann: "One sec!!" Dad: "Maybe it'll rub off"

Sounds like Luann missed the memo of Quill going to NY this (according to Aussie weather) winter.

Nancy is staring at Quill the way a hungry lion stares at a limping gazelle.

When Quill is in intern in the theater district of NYC, it will show what an ambitious and dedicated actor he is. When Tiffany works as a go-fer and bit-part actress in a Hollywood movie, it shows what a ridiculous loser and delusional failure she is.

Gunther followed Rosa to Peru, will Luann follow Quill to NY?
Angelalex242 over 9 years ago
Hmmm. Luann is used to Quill being elsewhere, she can go back to skype for a while.

Got your message, and left one (or two, as well!)

there are intern programs in Los Angeles too and even more all around California ………… but it is essentially the same thing as Universities, NY is seen as “Harvard and Yale” of Plays acting while California is seen as Ohio U and UCLA of Plays acting

Should be interesting to see how Luann responds to his internship lol

I just hope too much doesn’t rub off quill of her cause her untidiness makes Luann Luann

I’m so glad I didn’t have a dad like Frank. He keeps saying the rudest things about her. And as I’ve said before, he should find an apartment for her, so he can stop stressing and have his precious empty nest. Sorry but he’s getting on my nerves.
Caldonia over 9 years ago
And real theatre life is unbelievably competitive, but Quill will probably never even have to audition to get great parts because he’s Quill.
wiselad over 9 years ago
if tiff was slightly smart, if she realizes she won’t be a starlet, she can either accept being an extra or become a decorator and fashion consultant to the stars
Caldonia over 9 years ago
And Quill could take the same path, only he could be on one of those “Marry this Bachelor” shows.

I would never let my daughter date Quill. Acting is not an honorable profession.

Soooooo, You’re Help Luann with a “New” Art Project, eh Pretty Boy?
I Wouldn’t Scuff My delicate little hands on it, if I were You, because its only gonna end up in the SHREDDER.
thebigboot over 9 years ago
You also forgot Tiffany is evil scum who no matter what she does it’s for bad reasons. Even when she is in a movie it means absolutely nothing.

> Gunther is a growing young man trying to sort out what he wants out of life. He is overly protective of his single mom, but has no illicit or neurotic attachments to her.>Overly protective? Gunther is not trying to protect his Mom. He’s worried that his life plan will collapse totally if Mom’s not living in the “Granny addition” to his dream home. He’s not worried about the effect that Mom’s dating might have on her; he’s worried about the effect it would have on him.

Good-bye Quill, hello Mr. Jock!

Don’t take it upon yourself to “correct” my opinion about Frank, please.

“methinks he was posting with tongue-in-cheek . . .”
Ahh, in that case he should use the :p emoticon to indicate tongue in cheekness! Without that he sounds like he seriously believes what he said.

But you’ve been telling us all along you enjoy surprises. What would be surprising about any of this, except for the first Monday?
Sisyphos over 9 years ago
Hurry up, Luann! It will be time for Quill to leave before you get yourself all in order and dressed to work on your art project! Frank is a little cynical, but Luann is still his favorite (okay; only) daughter….
seismic-2 Premium Member over 9 years ago
I don’t see it that way either. I was pointing out that Tiffany’s hard work at becoming an actress are consistently met with scorn and derision by most of the posts herein, whereas Quill’s efforts to break into acting do not generate the same negative response.
Caldonia over 9 years ago
Unlike your super-objective observations on the commentators here, I suppose.
Caldonia over 9 years ago
It can be both, in the States. Though many people make the distinction that “theatre” refers to the art of theater as opposed to a place where there is theatre.
Chodzin over 9 years ago
Nope, it’s theatre. As a union stagehand, I can tell you that although the words are interchangeable, generally the art form or acting company would be theatre, the building they perform in is a theater. The drama of the strip alone dictates that this is theatre daaaaling.

And in the South, it’s THE-ater. Hey, to-may-to, to-mah-to, right? (Or in the South, ’mater.)
flowergirl19 over 9 years ago
“Actually, I think that is sticking out one’s tongue to show displeasure.”
It’s used as a sheepish acknowledgement of one’s own silliness or is used to indicate that one has made a joke, according to Urban Dictionary.
flowergirl19 over 9 years ago
“But would Frank and Nancy agree? I have my doubts.”
What makes you think that?

-a Luann-Jock match, it reminds me too much of the Toni-Dirk pairing.-But we haven’t seen a sign of violence or a controlling nature from ‘Jock’. My hope is that Luann gets to meet someone entirely new, not just a kid in one of her classes. Maybe (kind of like with Quill) a guy touring the campus to see if he wants to start classes there. Maybe he’s a returning vet, trying to start a civilian life. Or someone older, who had a career as, say, a stock broker, and hated it, and now he wants to follow his dream of being a gourmet chef…
RSH over 9 years ago
unfortunately, if Luann is her same clingy self when it comes to relationships nothing useful will rub off. She will just become whiney and complaining over the possibility that Quill is making plans for the summer that don’t include her. Let’s hope she reacts differently this time.

How about George Clooney, Tom Hanks, Tom Sellick among others. True, they’re married. But?

> I rely on what the artist intends to portray>Rather than on what he does portray?
Argythree over 9 years ago
SPOILER ALERT…-So, so sorry, but the next part of the arc may not have a whiny, clinging Luann as a feature. In fact, the direction may be changing altogether.-You did say you liked surprises…
Argythree over 9 years ago
SPOILER ALERT…-It could be that the visit from Quill wasn’t about setting Luann up for a fall. There’s a hint that another member of her family might be taking a step out of a comfort zone…
