Transcript:
Bernice: What?! Prudence is moving in with you?!! Dez: I just felt a shift in my spectrum. Luann: hey. Whatev. Right? Bernice: Whatev?" That's your response? "Whatev"?! Dez: Wonder what the destiny deck says... Luann: See this? It's my "bring it" face. I'm takin' Destiny into my hands! Bernice: Into your own house you mean! Dez: Hm. A giant asteroid....

I wonder if Prudence will turn out to be like Tiff. That would definitely be a giant asteroid

This whole situation of having Prudence in the next room could soon turn out to be a giant pain in the asteroid.

Prudence is going to be 60 years old and a sweetheart.

Prudence is probably a mature, professional, stage director /play write, who runs workshops for up and coming young actors during the summer. Why does Luann (and everyone else, it seems) think she is any kind of competition for Quill’s affections. Yes Quill said she is his friend and maybe buddy…but the theater is like that. You work closely every day with people and you form relationships. I had two Drama teachers who used endearments to address the students/actors etc. Sweetie, honey, dear one, my sweet cherub; things like that. it didn’t mean anything other than a nick-name to encourage each person to do their best. I think Luann is panicking for no reason.
Argythree about 9 years ago
She’s trying to pretend that it doesn’t matter that her own parents have thrown her under the bus, never mind the supposed boyfriend.
Maybe Dez will find a solution in that magic deck. Like a terrific job with great friends in another country. But you have to leave now, Luann.
Sounds terrific, to me…

While Quill and Luann’s failure to communicate with each other about Prudence doesn’t speak well for either of them, I don’t see why having Pru stay at the DeGroots’ is that bad for Luann. Luann herself hasn’t had any romantic moments with Quill in her own house that I can remember in years, not since the time they were interrupted by Quill’s dad calling to say they were moving back to Australia right away. Well, I don’t think Pru is going to be able to seduce Quill at the DeGroot house with Frank, Nancy, and Luann hovering around, so that could keep Luann’s mind at ease for part of each day.

With friends like these, who needs enemies? Or Prudence?
ai_vin about 9 years ago
Anyone who needs “the cards” to tell them how to live their life isn’t playing with a full deck.
BobCu about 9 years ago
Prudence is obviously just Quill’s pal and she will soon be Luann’s pal. The family business will get off to a great start. A happy ending for everyone.
The only thing to be concerned about is that giant asteroid which could wipe out all life on Earth.

And what does her roommate think of this? Did she even bother to ask her?

Actually it is her parents house, she just lives in it.

Is it in fact now a done deal that Prudence will be staying in the DeGroot home, or is this still just speculation? If it has indeed been arranged, then Frank and Nancy have discussed things thoroughly with Prudence, right? I mean, surely they wouldn’t just be relying in Quill’s texts to set this up, after all!!! So Frank and Nancy have talked extensively with Pru, both about the holiday show and about her staying with them, and now it’s appropriate (indeed, obligatory) for us to ask:-1) What is Prudence like? I mean, surely Frank and Nancy wouldn’t just offer to take her in as a part of their own household unless they felt comfortable about living with her. So what all has Quill told them about her, and what did Frank and Nancy find out when they talked with her on the phone??? Presumably now Luann, as part of the household, knows these things too. So Luann is not concerned about having Prudence in her home, because she knows that Pru is really… or maybe in spite of her knowing that Pru is really… [CRICKETS/]-2) When Frank talked with Prudence and thanks her for her overwhelming generosity in saving him financially by donating the use of her show and then flying to Pitt (on her own dollar!) to direct it FOR FREE, and then he “offered” to let Pru RENT at room in his home, Prudence’s reaction to Frank’s own “generosity” was…[CRICKETS/]-Well, one more day to sweep those glaring questions under the rug, and then next week we can move on to something else entirely. I wonder where Piro is sleeping these days?

I am betting that for the sake of Drama, Prudence will be a youngish, Smoking hot, Well mannered and even tempered woman. Drama drama drama.

They haven’t asked Prudence, they don’t know what she wants, they don’t even know what she looks like, and yet it is settled that they are going to rent out Brad’s room to her. Even though this is a comic strip, some important events have been skipped.

Although, it may be that prudence is from an older generation, and not a factor.

8Well, of all the panels in the “Pru” week… this one is (IMO) the most fun and enjoyable. I really enjoy the sort of “classic sit-com” sort of twist with Dez’s tarot card predicting “doom” via the asteroid. For me, this was the best of the lot this week and it made me smile and laugh! Although perhaps not the best television show ever made, today’s effort reminds me of a typical “Laverne and Shirley” episode. Luann is sort-of the “Laverne” character and Bernice is “Shirley”.

> why don’t you let him tell the story the way he wants to?>I wasn’t aware that I (or anyone else) had the ability to keep Greg Evans from telling the story the way he wants to. He is in fact telling it that way, namely not telling anything at all. It would be one thing if Evans told it so that the characters knew all about Pru but didn’t share that information with us (so that we would continue to wonder whether she is old or young, pretty or plain, straight or gay, single or married, etc.), but it is quite another thing for the characters themselves to know nothing about Prudence simply because they are too clueless to ask, or because Luann and Quill don’t want to talk with each other about anything significant.-That latter approach (which Team Evans has adopted) to telling the story makes the cast look like a bunch of fools, and it’s completely unnecessary. The very same story could be told without portraying these people as dolts (and in Frank’s case, a stingy and downright mean dolt).
bhebert007 about 9 years ago
I wonder if they’d consider renting the room to Piro instead?
seismic-2 Premium Member about 9 years ago
> waiting for facts to emerge is hardly “acting like dolts”.>You’re missing the point. For us to be waiting for facts to emerge, because the characters know things that they’re not telling us, is “suspense”. For the characters themselves to be waiting for facts to emerge, when they could just find out everything they want to know by a simple conversation, does make them look like “dolts”. Team Evans could tell exactly the same story, and keep the audience in suspense, without showing their characters as being totally clueless.

the adage is ’Keep you friends close and your enemies closer."
Sheila Hardie about 9 years ago
In an effort to be the “cool girlfriend”, too many women put our own feelings aside for fear of losing a man. We need to stop doing that. If a man can’t handle hearing that you don’t want some other woman living in the house with him, particularly one about whom he’s cryptic, then walk. That’s his loss. Find a man who isn’t afraid of human emotions.

There actually was a deck of cards created back in the 1800s that was supposed to be based on the work of Marie-Anne Lenormand, a very famous fortune teller who knew Napoleon and predicted both his rise to power and his failed invasion of Russia.
However, Lenormand was not known to have ever used this ‘destiny deck’ herself. She used both tarot and regular cards in her work. The set of cards based on her work was created by a woman claiming to have been her student, someone called Madame Breteau.

If only Luann was as curious as her friends…she could have learned what Prudence was like months ago. If only Quill was a realistic person…he would have told her. If only Frank wasn’t an idiot…he never would have had Prudence be his rent-paying guest. If only any of these stories made sense….

You know….. the new, sort of “lovable”, sort of “shady” and sort of “tied loosely to potential criminal elements” Frank…. he is starting to remind me of Evelyn “Angel” Martin…. the sort-of friend of James Rockford on the “Rockford Files”. If you are not familiar with the character of Angel, here is a brief clip that kind of highlights the character (played by Stuart Margolin):https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DhHqFN4K3O0

We waited for Dez, we still wonder about Mr. Gray’s past associations, Gunther and Rosa in Peru was a huge disappointment, and now we wait again to meet Prudence. I’d like to see a high energy, theater loving black female who will come to the Fuse, meet TJ, be instantly attracted to him, and awaken his sleeping libido. I would also like to see Tiffany try to regain her old flair, but then realize that she actually cares for Gunther more than than she wants to admit.

Luann has decided, it seems, to make the best of a potentially bad situation that is out of her control. Easy enough before the fact. We’ll see how long she can maintain this blithe attitude after Pru has moved in….

Dez may be insane, but she’s 1 for 1 in correctly guessing the future. I think it’d be prudent to ask her where the asteroid will strike, and what the death toll will be..The death toll from an asteroid strike as pictured in your comment would be the whole world and all life upon it.
