Brings back a strange memory — When my Dad’s Alzheimer’s was really bad and they had him on the wrong meds, I got a call like that. I had to go “talk him down” from jumping off a “cliff” into the “ocean”, to escape Major League Baseball, which was trying to control his mind.He was actually standing on a low garden bench in a little patio at the hospital, screaming if anyone approached, and they were afraid he’d fall. He’d run away from a baseball game on the large screen TV in the patient lounge area.He did get into a better state of mind not long after that, and was much happier for the final 5 years of his life === but at that time it was all very real to him.
And Teg, just because JFW shared that with us about his own father……. I’m sure you didn’t mean Lila’s Dad must be a paranoid schizophrenic to suffer delusions. Even before my father had Alzheimer’s, he was delusional when he was once given morphine after surgery, and years later, in the particular scenario I described, his dementia was magnified by Haldol, which I now consider an evil drug.He was never diagnosed as schizophrenic — but I had to monitor his meds in many situations after that lest they cause paranoid delusions.

Lila, if your father had any sense, he wouldn’t still be married to your mother!

Thanks for sharing, SusanSunshine. My father is going through a similar situation…hence the storyline. Happy Fourth, everyone!
