When I was in college in Pittsburgh back in the 80s, one of the local TV stations had the weather guy do the 11 PM news forecast outside from the roof of the studio building. To see him out there with an umbrella or in a parka was both amusing and calming… because he really DID know what it was like out there. No credibility like telling half a million people the wind chill is minus-4 when you’re actually out there in it.
Got a weather alert on my phone about an impending “Lake Effect” storm on the way....I live in Florida with a Florida area code (not a transplanted from up north phone). It was cancelled 30 seconds later.
This is why meteorologists are forced to broadcast in hurricanes, floods, and such. The station is quite defensive, so the meteorologist has to suffer often dangerous conditions.

Does Lila ever open her umbrella after she gets outside into rain?

I remember a blooper tape of a radio weatherman in Alaska that was going to take a leak out the window to see if it was freezing.

Sure. Don’t listen to the radio, try www.weather.com.
