Those aren’t her chances of meeting a man; those are her chances of meeting the ideal man.

The odds are better than that. Half the 200 women in the room have been through so many bad dates with jerks they’ve basically given up. Half the remainder are so busy taking care of children from a previous marriage that they have no time for a relationship. Half that remainder have serious relationship baggage, like an ex they’re still in love with. And half of the ones who are left say they want “a nice average guy” but will reject any man who isn’t as handsome as Ryan Reynolds with a six-figure salary. And half of that final total would be happy to hit on you, Lila.

Now I’m depressed.

Reminds me of my college days at a university (known as a engineering school) where there were 10 male students for every female student. After looking over the selection, winnowing it down in much the same way as Boyd does, I found this.

Half of them still act like they are 13, half of the remaining guys are so dedicated to engineering (math computers, geology, etc) that nothing else registers with them, of the remaining ones half have Mommy issues (or need a Mommy) and the cute one remaining is gay. (Please don’t check my math on this – I was a biology major not a math major)

And also, you’re hanging out with Boyd, who, although gay, is still a man and will keep other men from approaching.
