I have only heard two singers who sounded good into their later years, Ella Fitzgerald and Mel Torme. Not that their voices held up but they were both genius enough to accomodate the changes in vocal abilities. Brains, soul, and flexibility makes all the difference.
A few years ago when the Stones were last touring, they had people my age jumping out of their seats, pumping their fists in the air, and screaming HEY!! TURN THAT NOISE DOWN!!!
