I found that walking a dog in a park is a great way to meet people. Usually other dog owners. If you are a single man and want to meet women, it’s the second best way to meet them.

The best way is to push a stroller with an infant while wearing a sign that says “I’m her uncle.”

    Happy 2018 to y’all.

Don’t blame it all on dogs that are being walked. They just spread the noise over a wider area. Fenced in dogs, on the other hand, often manage to make themselves obnoxious without ever leaving their yards.

Your neighbors know you as the people who are too lazy (or inept) to train their dog that barking is not allowed!

Invite the neighbors over for beer and pupcorn.

Should have said, “Now our neighbors know us as the people who are ignorant on how to train their dog”. Worst ones are the owners of small dogs and terriers, small ones a lot of people never train because they think they are sooooo cute, and terriers take a lot of training to bark only when they should. People with small dogs should have gotten a cat.

We used to have an English setter, which we adopted from a couple who said their landlord didn’t allow pets. She barked non-stop (we got one of those collars that give a mild shock), she refused to be housebroken (she’d come inside, mess on the floor, and go hide) and was tall enough to pop the latch on the screen door. When she got out, she’d run until her feet bled. We took her to an obedience class, and even that didn’t help. We understood why the landlord felt the way he did. She finally got hit by a car. We’ve had dogs before and since, but nothing ever as dumb/stubborn as that English setter. I don’t know if it was inbreeding, or what but, man, ooh, man!

According to my vet friend, dogs that bark continually are truly unhappy in their environments. Lots of reason, chief among them being lack of real attention from their owners.

She said you can’t call them ‘masters’ because that would suggest they had taken time to develop rapport with their ‘pets.’

So I guess ‘pet claimers,’ i.e., people who own animals just so they can say they are ‘pet people,’ might be an appropriate term.
