When he was in high school, my eldest son was 6 foot 5 and very muscular. One day, he walked out in the football field and the coach came up to him and enthusiastically said, “Are you here for practice?”
My son responded, “Yes.”
“What do you play?” the coached asked even more eagerly about his position.
“Trumpet.”
My son was in the band and had no interest in sports.
Our AD had a policy if you came out for a sport for all four years and you had not earned a Letter by your junior year you at least would at least earn a letter your senior year.
