I’ve heard it claimed that only English has (or needs) a book such as a thesaurus. English, gotta love it!!
American English is an amalgam of just about every other language on earth. But other languages also have absorbed previously ‘foreign’ words. There probably is a need for a Thesaurus for most of them.
