Still is with Spectrum/Charter (aka “Cheater” with their mysterious add-on fees every month). You’d have to call and complain every time you got a new bill.
Heck. Remember when the pitch for cable was that it wouldn’t have ads because you already paid for it? Or ATMs would be free because the bank didn’t have to pay a teller?
Most prices have changed and some come with a shock. An average local diner menu listed a hamburger for $10. Thought we might enjoy a real burger and fixings after the long isolation. Then found it was just the patty (small) and the bun. Garnish was extra. Guess fries would need a loan agreement. Lots of adjustments in 18 months.
I stream for $0 dollars a month. Local TV from an antenna, and everything else with Kodi. Been doing this for years. Just need rocket fast internet and you’re in business.
It still is. Get a Tablo box to record, a good antenna, and subscribe to anything that you want. I have everything I had with my $135 a month DirectV, with the option to buy a bunch of stuff that I don’t want, but you might, and it’s costing $25.

You can still stream hundreds of fine older movies for free. It’s your own fault if you’ve become jaded by explosions and “Dolby abuse”.

We “stream” about ten books a month from our local free library.
