Because the point has never been to educate or to save lives. Only to indoctrinate and make money. Money is the true religion, especially when you wrap it in made up religion.
Yes arm the teachers with guns, what happens when the students are so annoying that the teacher loses it and starts shooting up the kids. We could arm the students so they could shoot back?
@Rudym300; the best choice for selecting books are the people who have read and studied them and who have been taught how to present them. That usually includes teachers. It doesn’t include B of E’s. And in some cases it also doesn’t include Boards of Supervisors.
I taught in a system where the chairman of the BoS once proclaimed that the old school did not need to repair the gym because they didn’t need a gym. Kids didn’t need to learn to play sports. They needed to learn the basics of house building and repair, such as plumbing, electrical, agriculture, and construction work. He also said that, he had only attended through 8th grade, and he had learned all he needed to succeed. He said that should be enough for kids.
[That was 1975, well into the college or else movement. Go figure.]
I usednto think it would be good to have armed teachers. Not anymore. Many teachers have been shown to be incapable of choosing age appropriate books for kids, so why would you allow such imbeciles to be armed?
We certainly cannot allow people educated to teach decide WHAT to teach. And we absolutely cannot allow our children to be more educated and knowledgeable than their parents. /s
Women are too emotional to make choices on what to teach. Takes the cool rational thought of old white men to move America in the right direction. {hides under chair}
Democrats try to come up with optimal policies, though of course they don’t always succeed. Republicans oppose whatever policies Democrats support, and feel no need to investigate the issues further. (Well, apart from putting Democrats under oath and hoping they might say something incriminating,).

Why would I like individual teachers decide what to teach? That’s what Bd’s of Education are for, and they are elected by their communities.

Does anyone know if the NRA convention is still prohibiting “good guys with guns” to attend?

Because teachers are unlikely to chose the fully metal-jacketed books needed to use as shields and weapons in the classroom. :(
