Moderately Confused by Jeff Stahler for April 30, 2024

Is that the latest scam-game the Grabby-hands Grifter is hawking? He’s done almost everything else… Steaks, vodka, ‘NFTs’, even Bibles… and every one a scam. Kids’-games is an odd next venture, tho, I feel it won’t last long. No real money possible from that age group.

What will be next, I wonder. Blow-up dolls of Melania or Ivanka? Would not really surprise me, tbh. Who Knows how low he will stoop to scam a buck? Only time will tell.

Ah, the trump game.

That is the problem with many people. They see everything in binary: zero – one, off – on, false – true, them – us, lose – win.

To them the world is a zero sum game. The only way other people can prosper is to take something away from me. The only way another person can win is by making me lose.

So they are out to win by making others lose.

In the real world there are such things as positive sum games where all sides gain more than they lose.

I raise grain, you raise mules. I borrow your mule to plow and plant my crop and give you some of my grain to feed your mules. It sounds so 19th century but works today. My cousin works on his neighbor’s farm with a bunch of his other neighbors during hay making season. All are paid in hay for their horses and cattle.

Thinking of the world as a zero sum game makes one selfish. According to Bishop Curry (The presiding bishop of the Episcopal Church in America) the opposite of love isn’t hate, it’s selfishness. Hate is selfishness’ offspring.

Heads I win, tails you lose.

And people wonder that children grow up to emulate their parents.
