Hollywood is out of ideas. Most of their films these days are based on comic books, video games, tv shows or kids toys. Also an endless stream of rom-coms with nearly identical storylines. War films that portray (badly) any one of the same six or eight battles of World War II. Then the are all the remakes and sequels (and sequels of remakes, and remakes of sequels) that just rehash the same old stuff over again.

L’ours (The Bear) for one, Country Bears for a second and Brother Bear for a third.

Hollywood makes plenty of movies from the female perspective. Most of them aimed at the wrong target audience. “Let’s turn Star Wars into a female franchise…” Bombs. “Let’s turn Indiana Jones into a female led franchise…” loses millions of dollars. “Let’s turn Marvel into a female exclusive franchise…” flushes billions down the toilet. “Let’s turn The Terminator into a female franchise…” and kills off the franchise.

gentle ben and flipper were both filmed in florida and read years ago that the bear and dolphin became great friends…when the day’s filming had ended ben would jump in the water to cool off and would play with flipper for hours throwing an inflatable ball around

Since we started dating husband and I would go to the movies every Saturday night – short of illness or snowed in. When we traveled we still did so – went to a movie theater next to Liberty University in Virginia – filled with students from same, went to the movies (in French which neither of us speaks) in Montreal and so on.

This stopped when Covid came along. So instead we have “Saturday night date night movie” at home – originally were watching on our kitchen TV, then he decided he needed a smallish big screen TV – which is in our 18th century decorated living room – he would not let me get the recliner chair I wanted years ago as it would ruin the look of the room, but for him for TV watching we got a parson’s work table and big TV. (Also ruins Xmas decorations as sits where the tree used to be and new spot for tree only has one front, not two.)

We also have “Friday night midnight movie on TV” – our first date was a midnight movie after our retail jobs while in college at a local art cinema. The movies for this are old movies and i like them much better than the new ones – don’t think in the 4 years I have seen a new movie I like – and I really should remember to never anticipate anything will be nice, it stops me from being upset as nothing ever is.

Saw a cartoon once (can’t remember the name) about an MLB game, from the perspective of the ball. It was hilarious.
