That scenario could only happen to Monty.

Something kind of similar happened to me once, in an over-loaded elevator in a well-known museum. Luckily, there was no “clinger”; for that matter, there was scarcely any room to move at all. After twenty minutes I was beginning to feel a bit claustrophobic, but luckily they got the thing running again and we were able to get out unscathed….Breathe deeply, Monty (if you can).

My idea of hell is being trapped for all eternity in a stalled elevator with someone like Vanna White or Sarah Palin.

Long ago I got into a small service elevator on the Leonardo da Vinci cruise ship and was promptly wedged into the back corner by half a dozen or more rotund seamen who packed in while smoking and joking. The elevator moved a few feet and then stalled and the lights went out. The seamen roared with laughter and kept on smoking. The atmosphere thickened and my claustrophobia skyrocketed but fortunately the elevator started to move again before I lost it.

When the power goes out at work, the electronic key for the doors will not work. It wouldn’t be so bad except the doors cannot be opened manually from the outside. And the outside is where the washrooms and stairs be.
