Monty by Jim Meddick for March 30, 2015
Transcript:
Sir... A package has arrived... I suspect it's the ventriloquist dummy you ordered... Aha! Finally! Speaking of dummies, don't just stand there! Help me remove this bubble wrap, you grinning nincompoop! Aha! A good start, sir!... But I confess I think I saw your lips move a tad... They did move, Jarvis. That wasn't meant to be the dummy... That was me talking...

The little troll with the huge sense of entitlement.

Do I detect just a wee tad of push-back from Jarvis, and a threatening retort from Sedgwick? Could there be some intra-household fireworks in the offing? —I wish!

is Sedge Potty trained?

I think Jarvis should study “Mr. Belvedere” and “My Man Godfrey.” They would get Sedgewick squared away.

Indubitably.

I hope Jarvis makes a killer salary.

I think someone should shove a hand up Sedgewick’s backside, and use HIM as a ventriloquist dummy.

In reply to yesterday’s post about coloring:(replying to racerxyz’s comment)Monty is easily the most time-consuming daily I color, so it’s not exactly a money maker for me (however, it is counterbalanced by other strips that are relatively EZ pass jobs), but I am glad to do it because Monty is a rarity in the comics page — Completely non-derivative, never a cheap gag, scratchy scrawly sketchy in a completely inimitable and masterful way, and a dozen other attributes I don’t have time for right now. If I had a wish for my own work it would be to build up a cultish following like Jim Meddick and not settle for the vanilla offering that some bigger and more commercially successful strips do.Monty is, quite simply, a brilliant strip. I’d have put it on Voyager’s gold plated summary of humankind. For sure that would keep hostile aliens away.

I’m guessing Jarvis is one of the richest people in the country in his own right given how much he has to be payed to put up with this brat.
