Over the years I've developed a technique for watching horror movies alone... I find if I back away from the TV I can handle the scary parts... The scarier it gets, the farther back I get... The only problem is once I get past the porch light I start worrying about zombie attacks from the rear...

There has only been one part of one movie I could not handle. The 3rd story in the original Trilogy of Terror.

It’s funny the things that get to us. When I was a kid I was TERRIFIED by a segment of the Buster Crabbe “Flash Gordon” series they were showing on television. It wasn’t all that scary; it just got to me. I have discovered that if you turn the sound down almost nothing is scary. It actually looks pretty ordinary; sometimes even silly. Really amazing what a difference the sound effects make.

One more, a memory a la Monty: Watching a Thriller episode by myself (as a kid) one night, the one with the glasses that show your true self, scared me so much I actually did run out of the house. Seeing it years later as an adult, it was STILL creepy.

“My name is Talking Tina”, and I don’t like you." The Twilight Zone. I still get scared thinking about the time I watched that episode by myself.

Jaws scared the heck out of me, especially the head popping out of the porthole scene!

Even as a kid, scary movies rarely got to me, but there was this one time… I would watch movies on Saturday night at my best friend’s house, and one night a pretty silly movie called “The Screaming Skull” was on. It didn’t bother me… until I had to walk home… at midnight…
