Originally it was the turnip that was carved. I have no clue how. But turnips were very important crop as you could feed your livestock with them over the winter. I find things like this fascinating and never had a history course that brought up anything about it, just dates.
There should be some sort of gourd on the island. At least there has been on every one I’ve been to. Many Caribbean and South Pacific cultures grow them for food and art. But I guess that would ruin the joke…sorry.
Poor Sedgewick; it’s so hard to get adequate help these days. Jarvis is excellent in some respects, but sadly deficient in certain manual skills. Perhaps a demerit or two, and an enhancement course in industrial arts, would get him back on track. We must all learn to make do, in these trying times.

Go with the pineapple, mangos have a massive size pit in them. With the pineapple you can eat all the “guts” too.

I am pretty well-read, but in 72.5 years on this planet I had never encountered the word “cultivar” until today. Thanks, Sedgie.

Well, don’t try a puffer fish – they might “explode.”

Get the pumpkins air-dropped in, Sedgie. Use your money and imagination.

I was hoping this week would be more of a typical halloween theme rather than a tropical island.
