I had to go check and see if Beetle Bailey had Monty’s jokes today (different strips have collaborated before) but apparently Beetle isn’t on gocomics. Ofc i don’t know if Beetle is still being done every day, haven’t read it in years and never read it regularly
Originally the Chinese Red Army had no rank insignia, what with being an egalitarian “people’s army”. However, there was a problem with officers being indistinguishable from lower ranks. This was solved for a while by maintaining the common uniform, but adding additional pockets to the officers’ uniforms.
There’s a joke in there somewhere. Oh, yes. As in “Animal Farm”, all were equal but “some were more equal than others”.

Even worse than I feared. Not only are the jokes from China, with poor translations, they also got mixed up.

This is what happens when you out source to a country with no sense of humor.

Monty should not have been so cheap and ordered the poor quality AmazonBasics™ jokes.

While you’re at it, ask him to have a go at translating those strange, wingdings symbols that Sarge always says when he is angry at Beetle…

At least Bloom County back in the day made a point of domestically-sourcing its jokes, providing jobs to wholesome Christian American joke writers.

“Do not mistake temptation for opportunity.”
“He who throws dirt is losing ground.”
I don’t think these are for the comic strip. I wonder what the Fortune Cookie factory got?

Lousy OEM translator! It should have read, “Beetle! General Halftrack wants to play golf! Where are his balls?!”
