I once had a Roman candle hit me right in the chest! It burned a hole through my shirt but thankfully not through my skin, it did smart pretty good!

I was reading just today about fireworks safety in a post the local fire department put out. It had a thermostat shaped graph with different temps on it: at 212’ water boils; 350’ cakes bake; 575’ wood burns; 900’ glass melts and 1200’ sparklers! I had no idea they burned so hot!

When I was a kid I thought they shot rockets like that on the Fourth. Now I know they use mortars and shells, more related to a cannon than a rocket.

The last time we took the kids to fireworks, ( a while ago) one of the mortars fell over and fired a round over the heads, laterally, of the crowd. The adults were duckin’ and the kids were thrilled.

It looks like that firework rocket still has some life left in it. They both should move, to be smart and on the side of caution. But knowing Monty and Moondog, the dummies won’t move. ;-)

The only wood sparklers I’ve ever seen had the burning stuff inside wrapped up paper and expelled sparks out the top. They look cool too, haven’t seen any in ages.

If you get there early, you don’t have to walk as far when the thunder, lightning, and hail starts.

In my younger days,I have a tome of close calls with legal and illegal fireworks. Those were the days my friend.

You could snuff out the fireworks rocket and avoid serious personal injury by pouring your beer on it…

Sitting in my condo, hearing, and if I look seeing, more than enough fireworks, loud enough and close enough. Don’t need no stinkin’ lawn chairs!
