That’s pretty much the way it’s done on TV nowadays.

I remember our local weathermen (not a lot of women doing it then) using the big map and a large marker to draw all of these weather systems like this…

Later, our weather guy in Phoenix (Stu Tracy, KPHO TV5) would use magnets with the sun, rain, storms, etc., along with the big marker. ;-)

I once attended a church dinner where the guest speaker was a local TV weatherman. He claimed to be an expert on climate, but didn’t seem to know much about climatology. He denied that climate change existed (strike one).

He didn’t even seem to know much about meteorology when asked questions (strike 2). It was clear to me that his job was to look good in front of the TV cameras (strike 3).

I saw this exact forecast on the tv this morning. Electronic, but the same “clearly drawn” map for Texas.

60 years ago, the fancy graphics was a guy standing behind a glass map with a white marker in each hand to draw the temps etc. We assumed he was drawing on his side in reverse, but it could have been a camera trick with a mirror.

Pretty much covers it … Winds light to gale force from the North tending Southerly with a 2% to 100% chance of light drizzle or storm.
