Hi Vagabonds, NY is such a great place! Today there was a Turkish street festival near Times Sq. There was nice live Turkish music and Turkish food as well as arts and crafts. I wore my baseball cap with the insignia of a Turkish futbol (soccer) team and some Turks wanted to photograph me wearing it. Then, in the subway station, 3 guys were studying a subway map.Since they looked Hispanic, I asked them in Spanish where they wanted to go and they told me they don’t speak Spanish, they were from Russia. Sensing that they were not ordinary Russians, I asked them what part of Russia they were from and they said Kazan (the capital of Tatarstan). Making my Turkkish sound like Tatar, I asked, “Siz Tatarcheh bilyorsen?” (Do u speak Tatar?) and they were so surprised. Anyway, I showed them what subway to take.
