I went “Black Friday” shopping once, many years ago when we still lived in Riverside, CA. Never again! I don’t like crowds all that much and the prices weren’t worth the madness. I can’t imagine what it would look like here in Vegas and I don’t want to find out.
I read an article this morning that said the craze for “Cabbage Patch Kids” is what really started the Black Friday madness. There had been rushes and crowds for sales prior to that but starting with the CPK’s people were ending up in the hospital after fighting for one of those dolls. They were in short supply because Caleco didn’t think they were going to be that popular and hadn’t made enough. There were literally millions of people asking for those dolls!
My doctor visit on Wednesday went well. Everything is normal and good. I got a flu shot and today I’ve got a major case of sniffles, but other than that all is well.
We had a delightful Thanksgiving celebration yesterday. I cooked and then just sat back and let Michael and Mike do all the clean up. The pies (pumpkin & blackberry) were fairly easy and the turkey & stuffing go in so early that it was mostly a matter of waiting. Then comes the last half hour. Talk about madness. It’s a darn good thing that I had a menu posted on my fridge door.
It’s a glorious day outside. The trees are finally starting to turn, and they aren’t just the usual brown. I’m looking at a bright yellow tree right across the street. Our forecasts are still in the high 50’s to low 60’s. Today’s is just 60. It’s a brisk fall day and I love it.
Good afternoon Vagabonds.
