Mark, thank you for the information about Mardi Gras (literally Fat Tuesday in French). I wasn’t sure when it was.
I’ve never fasted either, nor did I ever give up anything significant during Lent. (I tried giving up chocolate once. That lasted about 3 days. I was 9.) Your point about losing weight is a good one, though.
Yesterday’s study was great. This study will consist of watching a really good teacher on video, discussion of what was taught, homework in a work book we were given and discussion of the previous week’s homework. The introductory video was interesting, engaging and in places hilarious. And now I have 6 days worth of homework to do for the next class.
The road on which the church is located has major construction going on right at the on-ramp to the freeway and back up almost all the way to the church, so I chose to take surface streets to the next on ramp South. When I got there, the freeway was backed up and moving at about 5 MPH so I stayed on the surface streets all the way home. It takes a lot longer to get home that way!
I did discover on the way home that our favorite deli has closed down. Rats! They made the best egg salad sandwiches ever.
It’s another bright sunshiny day outside. It’s 43 at the moment, a bit cool for my taste. We are expecting a high of 61 later though. The next couple of weeks will be in the mid 60’s. Nice.
Good morning, Vagabonds.
