Also, RE Anansi, when I print my next book I’m going in and rewriting all of Anansi’s dialogue.
And I’m also adding a couple of new strips.
And I just might make the deadline to have it before Christmas.
No offense to Justin or anyone who actually talks this way, but now Anansi sounds (and, interestingly, acts) as if he’s lost about thirty IQ points. Forty, possibly.
[EDIT: Consider this an overreaction for effect, or as an effect, but still…I’d think an African Spider GOD would at least speak like an upper-class African. Or in any case carry the extreme skill in figurative language for which traditional African culture is rightly renowned…]
It’s all Jar-Jar Binks’ fault, I’m telling you. ;)
The trick when making someone’s accent dialectical (compared to one’s own) is to do so in a clever enough way so he appears as smart as you want him to be. I’m trying it and it has to be one of the hardest tricks in the book (or on the page), but it has to be done or you start losing credibility.
No offense taken. But it’s funnier this way. These characters are here for you to laugh at after all. How would you write an upper class African accent Johanan and make it funny? I’m all for it but how?
Starting Monday I will be turning in, not the spammers, but the website business site that they are providing the link for to our state’s attorney-general. He loves to prosecute spamming website owners.
Do the same for your state’s attorney-general; since go-comics doesn’t wish to help, then we can simply have the spammers owners fined out of existence.
Also, just the fact that Go-Comics will have government officials monitoring this site and asking questions may help to encourage them to stop the spammers instead of giving them shelter.

Africa is a whole continent, there must be many different African accents. Probably some of them sound Jamaican.
