Oh, wow, I’m old…my 1st job in college was working for the S Klein department store chain; repairing the very model NCR cash register depicted in this cartoon. Each store had a back room filled with machines needing paper jams cleared, or to be cleaned and lubricated so the keys and crank would not stick. I was paid $1.10 an hour bigger money than the sales clerks made.
