There was a loneliness and longing in his trembling voice- that captured me and held me- I never had a choice- It was as if he and his brothers were singing just to me- and feeling someone understood made it ok just to be- they gave voice to feelings I had no words for- I hope Robin and his brothers no- what their words and music meant to us- starting all those years ago
I already remembered Levon…check back a few weeks. Music is a huge part of my life. If you aren’t aware, I am a singer/songwriter in Nashville. These tributes are tough…..I memorialize those who meant something to me and it’s personal. It’s also “not funny” that day. And I write and draw for the “funnies”. But I also have to write from the heart. About things that mean something to me.Our Vets, our country, rescued pets and people….spring to mind. So I write funny…and slice of life stuff, too. So many people of my age…or who meant something to me growing up are passing away. I cannot and will not be remembering in the strip everyone who passes who was in the music business, as that would probably take up every day and every strip….and my job is to bring smiles to the faces of the readers who care about my characters. That’s been my job for about 18 years now…that’s a lot of comics. A lot of funnies…and quite a few tributes. I can only write and draw everyday for years and years by being honest and writing what I think works. …for the audience….through what works for my characters. For Fritzi….she loved The BeeGees. So did I…especially the ballads. Man. Great, great stuff. Not everyone loved The BeeGees. Not everyone loves or even likes NANCY. My work isn’t for everyone. If I tried to write something for everyone…it would be for no one. Not even me. But..if you are a fan of my work…know that I try my best each day. I really do. I appreciate the cool job I’ve had all these years. I also write TODAY’S DOGG. It’s here on this website. Find it if you like dogs. Take it easy folks. Have a great weekend.Ok…..I’m going back to the drawing board. Really. That’s what I do.
