She must trying to talk them into accepting the fact that she or he accidentally dropped that ice cream cone. Can someone explain that last panel to me? I’m not usually very dense but when I am dense it’s at an embarrassing level.

@RESIDENT IDIOT: The ‘incompleteness’ actually starts in the 4th frame, as Nancy’s shirt collar is missing and no curls are shown in her hair. In the next frame, the vest she is wearing is not colored (and I don’t think that’s a mistake by the colorist; the artist usually provides instructions for the colors they want). So artist James is showing us a version of what can happen after a ‘mistake’…

I’m guessing the only reason the date “mistake” was fixed was because the syndicate requires a correct one.

Nobody’s perfect in the second panel, as is demonstrated by the two commas in a row.

For the newspapers that display the Nancys on Sunday in four-panel format, I wonder if any of them printed “Olivia James” as the cartoonist today :)

In pencil in the last square nancy looks a little like Rosie from the Jetsons.
