Man 1: Well, I think we did it, fellas. Eddie: A-yeh. Man 2: A-yeh. Flo: So what're you boys up to this mahnin'? Eddie: Oh, we just concluded a problem-solvin' roundtable discussion, Flo. Flo: Whoa... big brain stuff, eh? Man 1: A-yeh. Eddie: We figyahd that all problems are intah-connected, which means theah has to be somethin' they all have in common. Identify that, and all the problems of the wahld can be solved! Flo: I'm impressed! So what'd you boys decide is the source of all the problems of the wahld? Eddie: Lady pahts. Man 1: Hmm... I see a new problem heah... Eddie Mmph. Man 2: ... caused by a woman, proving our point!
Okay… I know… before anyone criticizes… The first phrase of the second part of the compound sentence has for its subject “the exploitation”, which, in this case, is singular. So, the preposition “are” which appears in the last phrase and modifies the subject of the first phrase should have been written as “is” to denote the singularity and, in addition, relates properly the the singular noun “problem” at the end.Jeez.
