we all know Santa is White. lol. Fox Nuts tells us so, lolSanta will do whatever the White MaleBusinessmen tell him and Congress what to do. was there any doubt?
as Margaret Thatcher said, “There is no such thing as Government”. i don’t know where these Business get such an idea from. they bought it, lock, stock and barrel. lol
To put this in perspective, with more laws and more regulations come the need for more lawyers to figure out those edicts and argue for or against them – so we have a choice of either more lawyers or more bankers. Either way, most of us lose.
Catch is, Congress would have to make this law, and Congress is crawling with bloody lawyers! Anyway, don’t hold your breath. No way will they legislate themselves out of their places at the Public Trough!
Actually, the atheist is correct. Most of the symbols, rituals and holy days were appropriated by the Church from the pagans. One theory is that it would make conversion more palatable to the pagans they were attempting to suborn. In any case, that the Christian did indeed adopt pagan symbols and holy days is a fact. This is from an essay written in 1878 by John H Newman, a Catholic prelate:
The use of temples, and these dedicated to particular saints, and ornamented on occasions with branches of trees; incense, lamps, and candles; votive offerings on recovery from illness; holy water; asylums; holy days and seasons, use of calendars, processions, blessings on the fields, sacerdotal vestments, the tonsure, the ring in marriage, turning to the east, images at a later date, perhaps the ecclesiastical chant, and the Kyrie Eleison7, are all of pagan origin, and sanctified by their adoption into the Church."

You may not like it, but as the saying goes “The truth will set you free, but first it will piss you off”
As for the atheist billboards, I find them to be obnoxious but far less than the Christian Right’s attempts to force their religion down the throats of others via legislation. And, both the atheists and the Christians have the right to speak their minds, guaranteed by the First Amendment, which is the reason that the atheists can put up a billboard and I have to be pestered by proselytizing Christians on my doorstep.
Thanks for the comments about the little ones in the maze. I had just glanced at them and thought that they were Santa’s elves having to work in one of those cubbies in an office.
Celebrating Christ’s birth at the time of the winter solstice is a great way for the church to allow a celebration in the winter without the old gods. I know that all Christian holidays replace earlier pagan(or Jewish) celebrations.
Personally, I like the Christian celebrations, and that is where my focus is, there will always be those that go against the church, or wish to worship in the old way.
Atheist don’t know that they’re Godless. To be fair I’d say pretty much all so called Christians don’t know they have a God, even though their religion says so.
The only thing missing in this cartoon is the big pot for “donations” (AKA campaign contributions). It’s interesting to read a candidates PDC (Public Disclosure Commission) to see who owns them. Most congress critters have a majority shareholder: be it a corporation, industry or organized labor.
But at least we can say this: The U.S. has the finest politicians money can buy. At least when they are bought, they stay bought.
Right, I get that, but that’s not what Christmas is about anyway. Whether a bunch of those customs are pagan or not, the point was that Christians (should) celebrate the birth of Christ. As for all the drunken parties and greed, those are all about consumerism( and quite American)
Years ago there was a documentary on Natl Geographic or Discovery, the thesis of which was that the “Real” Christmas was in Mayof 4 B..C. — in the 28th year of Augustus.
No way around this one NOT being political……and aren’t there enough “escape clauses” out there for congress and senate already?…Sorry Wiley but my sense of humor over this is already dead and buried.
The ignorant are still blaming ‘banking regulations’ rather than the insanity of the Democrat party following Barney Frank with ‘nothing wrong with Freddie and Fanny’.
Regulations do nothing but increase costs, kill people, and/or diminish freedom. Only leftists prefer having bureaucrats do their thinking for them. Abolish the most worthless, EPA and FDA.
Why? That would be depriving some poor, actually needy child of a way to keep warm. If those congresscritters want to keep warm, let ’em burn all that money that they get from their lobbyist friends.
