Uh oh, here comes another Government shut down… a six week ‘legitimate’ closure of services. Because we need another lame excuse to do nothing.

Heck, I hold there should be a national holiday to honor Benjamin Harrison, the 23rd President of the United States (1889–1893). A great American who’s accomplishments have long been unjustly overlooked. (That Harrison’s and my birth anniversary dates are the same is just a happy coincidence.)

@Alabama_AlHowz about Ben’s granddaddy, Wm. Henry? He gave a 2 hour innaugreation (sp?) speech in the cold rain. He became ill and died within 5 weeks, making his presidency the shortest ever. Yay, Bill!

So thats it! They’re making a play for a 6 week holiday to get out of the weather! I’ll vote for that.

Another three day holiday for who? Let us not forget that some politicians ware permanently on holiday all the time. They feed like hogs at the public troff.

I always thought that Arbor Day should be on Monday and made an official holiday. Who would oppose another tree-day weekend?

@rick scottInteresting that you chose to spell marijuana with an h. My second and final assignment in the Nam was with Military Police Company, HQ Bn, 3rd MarDiv at Quang Tri in ‘69. We spelled it with a j. The Army MPs spelled it with an h. That was the first time I had seen it spelled that way and I don’t remember having seen it spelled that way since, although both spellings are listed in a dictionary.

And during this proposed 6 week celebration we can all take note of how the weather is getting warmer, OH NO! Its global warming!!!!! (at least in the northern Hemisphere)

@$$i9 .. Problem was, no matter how you spelled it over there by the time they got back to us in the states they were hooked on the real H – Heroin and Nixon & the Brass had us running flat out supplying them Methadone to try and turn them back into JUST pot heads …

You make this a holiday and I will respect this day. Right now the day means nothing to me.

But will this whole thing hinge on whether or not your congressman sees his shadow or not? Enquiring minds want to know. Or at least those nitwits at the Enqirer, the Globe and any other rag……I mean news outlet.
