The best way to avoid the ‘crisis du jour’ mentality is to awaken with no screens blaring ‘breaking news’…

A combination of news as entertainment (who gave the Weather Channel authority to name winter storms?) and official government social control.

The next crisis. Especially for Doc ToonCoffee is set for the largest shortage in nine years as drought shrinks the crop in Brazil, the biggest grower, according to Volcafe Ltd.

Demand will exceed production by 8.8 million bags in the 12 months starting Oct. 1, the most since 2005-06, the Winterthur, Switzerland-based unit of commodities trader ED&F Man Holdings Ltd. said in a report e-mailed today. The surplus was 7 million bags in 2013-14. Brazil’s arabica crop will be 29.5 million bags in 2014-15, the smallest in seven years.

As long as you are paralyzed in front of the television and too afraid to look away during commercials, it’s all good. And turn off that radio. It is nothing but a distraction!

That was so last week. You know the general publics attention span isn’t that long. They need something brand new that will grab their attention.

Plus, typically at this time of year, faux news trots out their “war on christmas” malarkey. That always seems to get the ill-informed in an uproar.

Best way to avoid being frightened is to be educated…..Just understanding probabilities goes a long way to grasping that the risk to you, personally, is usually tiny.

Technically, ISIS is conducting a war on Christmas (and all other non-Muslim holidays, and half of Muslim holidays, and, for that matter, half of Muslims!)

My reaction to all the “BREAKING NEWS” on our local station is to turn it off and read the newspaper. The national news in the evening is a little better, but all three major networks concentrate on the same stories, with little variation. A real snooze.

Got to sell those papers…er, drive those ratings…er, get those hits on the page. And all those numbers boil down to one thing: how much can be charged for the ads in the paper/on TV/on the website.

Maybe it isn’t always about stupidity. Have you ever heard of what happened when Orson Wells broadcasted ‘War of the Worlds’? -There were people who tuned in after he had announced that it was a fictitious broadcast, and people panicked. There were some who committed suicide.

No. It’s just numerological. Add things up until you have only one number.F is the sixth letter. O is the fifteenth, and one and five equals six. X is the twenty-fourth, and two plus four equals six.FOX = 666.It is really quite simple, for those who have the knowledge and can see that FOX is a tool of the Devil and a sign of the End Times, pure evil that must be avoided at all costs, etc..
