Ahh, for the old days, when barroom debates were resolved with the sawed-off baseball bat the bartender kept under the counter. Smack it on the bartop once for their attention. That usually ended the debate real fast.
What most people in the North and Coastal West do not understand is that in so-called gun friendly states, there is no debating. It is simply accepted that you should be able to buy the firearm of your choice, subject to the NFA rules, after a quick check of your background. If you have a concealed carry permit already, that check takes about three minutes. We don’t debate these matters. They are simply the way it has always been.
I am a combat veteran (river boats in Vietnam) and have heard, read and spoken with a number of gun owners. They are not nearly as competent to “save the day” as they think they are.
There’s a great scene in the Oscar nominated film Hell or High Water. It’s set in gun happy Texas where a couple brothers are knocking off banks left and right. In one scene there are some customers who decide to try and take the law in their own hands. In the getaway several of them all packing heat chase after them on foot shooting their damn fool guns off. Can you imagine a similar scenario playing out but an innocent bystander could easily get shot. The banks are insured and you just can’t put a price on a human life
There is a scene in the second Predator film on the BART where passengers all pull guns on some ruffians. But of course they have guns too and to the Predator they are all targets because of it.
Halthzor and Brass Orchid, If you guys think there is some final goal by somebody to disarm Americans, then you sound like unstable conspiracy theorists, who are just a little to crazy to responsibly use a gun….That’s as crazy as me saying that the only reason that so many people have such huge stock piles of weapons and unlimited ammo is that they want to over throw the government and rule the rest of us with an iron hand, just like Trump wants, which to me actually doesn’t seem very far fetched at this point.
Plenty of guns and rifles out there. Though most owned by a few. I do wonder how these that are prepared would do against one of our special forces units.

It’s 10:31 PM. Gun control means using both hands.

At last a couple of hours without debate (ie not listening but yelling and screaming at each other). What a relief.

Gun control is not about guns at all. It’s about control.
