When I went to North Intermediate School in Saginaw Michigan, in 1966, kids would light their farts…..Some were really good at it….Big flames!

Hummm… cartoon ideas must be thin on the ground in winter time, considering it was exactly one week ago that this exact gag(?) saved RJ and Hammie in Over the Hedge.

Wasn’t there a scene in a movie that had our protaganist hitching a ride in horse trailer and getting blown up by lighting a match in the methane charged atmosphere?

Was it John Candy in one of his great films?

In our part of Maine, we call those plow truck banks “heater banks.”

Anybody remember the episode of Seinfeld where Kramer fed the horse that was pulling the central park carriage ; I think it was some sort of canned meat product. The carriage was carrying an older couple as a special treat for an anniversary or something. The horse became very flatulent and engulfed the older couple in clouds of horse fart. I fell off my chair laughing! One of the funniest Seinfeld eppisodes ; ever!

OK, now for some real science — can a fart provide enough thrust to move an astronaut in micro-gravity? Anybody have connections with the folks on the ISS?

My father was born in 1903 so was familiar with horses since he grew up on a farm. When he was flatulent; he would say I’m fartin’ like a stump suckin’ mule! Anybody out there understand that?
