Jesus was a dark skinned Jewish man who preached about loving the foreigners, caring for the sick, poor, and hungry, preached against hording wealth, and about not seeking vengeance. It’s funny how in America, the “party of Christian values” seems to be dead set against Christ’s teachings, while claiming that those who follow Christ’s teachings are satanic.
Meek did not mean lie down and take it. It is to follow the less violent path of resistance. We can take things to a court of law if it is necessary. We should participate in politics to make things better for all people.
As someone else has said, Christ was more liberal than most Christian’s believe
That control is precisely why corporate America spent so much time & effort inventing & promoting a new brand of individualistic pietism (Fundamentalism) in the early 20th century, & co-opting “civil religion” from the 1940s on…
Not the best idea to telegraph your punches so blatantly, I’d think … In the Fall and Rise of Reginald Perrin (BBC Sitcom), his boss had a little mantra that he muttered when someone came to see him : “1, 2, 3, 4, make them wait outside the door; 5, 6, 7, 8, always pays to make them wait; 9, 10 – COME IN!” A little more subtle perhaps, but still just as nasty.

This reminds me a bit of the old Grin and Bear It cartoons by Lichty. Both the drawing style and content are similar.

My first boss had a sign hanging in his office that impressed me at the time:
“Yea, though I walk through
The Valley of Darkness
I fear no Evil —
‘Cause I’m the Meanest SOB
IN The Valley!”

That is how you get both religious people and atheists to vote for you. The atheists assume you aren’t serious.

A Leftist-Elitist icon! Worshipping wealth created by others, and exploited or stolen from them. Such faith is misplaced.

The meaning of “meek” has changed over the years.
Today it means wimpish and timid.
It used to mean those who are oppressed, disenfranchised or without station or power, yet endure.

Sadly this seems to be true of most religious people (no matter what religion they claim to follow).
The good news is that when you know the Truth, the Truth will set you free.
Now we just need more people to seek out the Truth.

Religion is regarded by the common people as true, by the wise as false, and by rulers as useful. — Seneca
