You probably need a new Therapist!

Anyone who falls for tarot as anything other than a parlor game probably needs therapy.

“Well you see, Dr. Zelda, the High Priestess of Pentacles is cute, but she won’t do anything around the house.”

“Reversed Fool”. Does that mean that he was the fool but now she’s the fool?

Maybe his wife is the fool but now that she has reversed, she has gotten smart and is dumping this loser.

Taro is an edible root (once it’s processed). Tarot is simply silly.

The commitment issue is his therapist should probably be committed.

Although inventing spurious origins for the Tarot deck has been popular for a couple centuries the earliest evidence for the cards begins in the Renaissance, and in an area where Catholic doctrine was being challenged. The fact the earliest decks all The Popess card (based on an anti-Catholic urban legend) gives some support to the theory it was invented to illustrate points of anti-Catholic teaching by a group like the Albigensians (one of a number of anti-Catholic groups pre-dating Luther) who the Pope called a crusade against.

I feel that this would actually work. Talking therapy needs some sort of anchor or starting point, the trump cards illustrate universal concepts and we wander on from there.

There used to be night classes at the local high school. One year, I took Tarot Card Reading as a lark. The scary part is the rest of the class believed in it!!

My fate is mostly decided by me.

Tarot, like astrology, appeals to the gullible and the simple-minded among us and can be detected every Sunday in churches, synagogues and mosques everywhere – once you start believing in something that cannot be proven by logic, it is a tiny step to complete idiocy…

Tarot has always been more lay psychotherapy than predicting the future. No surprise here.

“Tarot” is really short for Truth and Accuracy Rot.

It’s hard to commit to a fool.

I’ve often thought that things like Tarot and the I-Ching were related to psychotherapy because they promote guided introspection.

“Getting therapy on a couch in the psychiatrists office” is how I thought things were, until my son had to see an actual psychiatrist after being tested by a psychologist. Psychiatrists nowadays are MDs who mainly do medication management, and not much “couch” therapy. The “couch” sessions these days are done by psychotherapists, who are usually social workers with certifications, or nurse practitioners. And sessions usually happen virtually, not in person. This was all a revelation to me after years of being conditioned by comic strips like this.
