My job is one that can’t be done from home. Another employee used to bring in his little dog, who would wander around telling everyone how great they were, and asking if they knew about the doggie treats that were kept near the Keurig machine. He didn’t usually sit on laps, but he’d jump on an empty chair in the operations area, or curl up at somebody’s feet.
Poor little guy has been gone for some years now, and we still feel the loss. If you get to have this working from home, then enjoy it.
I have a cat who is really good at helping me learn new things about my computer. With a flick of her tail or a stretch of her paw, she has shown me how to make the zoom change, files disappear, the volume increase, the lighting dim, and the entire screen vanish.
Heater Cats are best on the lap. Not to dismiss around the shoulders. Or on the chest while flat on the couch. Pooches, about the feet. Warm tummies ya know.
Not a bad problem to have, I’d say…my sis worked from home for the last 10 years or so before she retired, & her cat loved to sit on her laptop. Sis solved the problem by setting up her personal laptop next to the work one on her desk & pulling up some cat-friendly online fare to keep Zoe entertained.

This could be so much worse. I would love to have the cats on my lap.
