My family did that whole blackmail thing for years… If you say you don’t believe in Santa Claus, you don’t get any presents from him (which generally made up nearly half our total presents, usually including the best ones). This rule was enforced ostensibly so we wouldn’t “ruin the magic of Christmas” for younger family members, but we’re a small family, and my siblings and I are still the youngest members. All three of us are adults now, none of us has actually believed in Santa since before we were 5, and yet we still have to pretend or we don’t get presents.
