I do oral and written explanations and arguments for a living.
And it’s never easy to convince a caller that they have a wrong number even though they may not have mis-dialed.
My office often gets calls for a trendy international boutique, mostly by folks who speak little English, or are so hip it takes me a minute to figure out who they think they’re calling.
All of them simply transposed two adjacent digits when dialing, which connects them to me. (And I only know that because, once I finally figured out what the actual name of the place was - which is sort of a puzzle in the first place because they’re just too cool with shortcut syllables - I found its correct number on the internet.)
If you can’t tell callers what they did wrong, in a very few clear words, they just don’t believe you that they got a wrong number.
