oops sounds like this is probably a school assignment journal, not a private journal david, I think she is busting him for not doing his homework and trying to hide it. Alot of school english classes have them do “journals” as writing assignments.
I remember having to write resentfully in a daily journal for HS. And I wrote I resented doing this and teacher at the time told someone what I wrote. I was so resentful about it I used pencil and lightly wrote making it harder to read and teacher also told someone I did that.
This strip I guess doesn’t honor St. Patty’s Day. This could apply for children.
My oldest child’s second grade class keeps a weekly journal where they write an entry to be sent home and the parents write back to their child. Even my kindergartener does a journal, but it’s more to practice writing than to write daily events and deep thoughts.

What are you doing snooping in your son’s journal? This is private stuff and you have violated your trust as a parent.

Timmy… I’m respecting your privacy by knocking, but asserting my authority as your father by coming in anyway.

Some schools are more advanced in this kind of stuff. I have had 6-7 page questionaires from a 2nd grade grandson. I think that is a little OTT!
