My parents used to do this because I was small for my age when I was young (I’m six foot now) and I always used to object because when you’re young you always want to be thought OLDER than you are (you never know when you’re well off.)
The $10.00 or so he would have saved on admission will cost him so much more down the road, both in money and in the respect lost to a young child. As tempting as it would be to lie, it is morally incumbent upon him to set a good example for his kid. (oh yeah, it’s only a cartoon…my bad)

Young kids keep track of halves. “How old are you?” – “I’m seven and a half”.
