@John Pike from yesterday:I’m not sure when the Melungeon study you reference was written; but this 5/24/12 article (commercial content removed, goes into other aspects as well) reports on a DNA study that says they’re the offspring of sub-Saharan African men and white women of northern or central European origin. All 4 of my grandparents came from Germany, as probably did all 16 of their grandparents, yet, according to The Genographic Project, where I had my DNA analyzed, I’m (on a regional basis):47% Northern European (46% is the “German” norm)35% Mediterranean (36% is the “German” norm)17% Southwest Asian (the “German” norm)I.e., it confirmed what I always suspected; we’re all a mix. Too bad DNA analysis wasn’t around before Hitler. None of us picked our parents, i.e., had a choice in our race — racism is illogical. I know you didn’t say anything about that; thought I would throw in my 2¢ before the 50th anniversary of MLK’s speech.
