Two of my all time favorite teachers were substitute teachers that filled in regularly at my elementary school – and for a couple of my regular teachers who had long-term health issues. I would have loved to have had both of them as permanent teachers. And no, it wasn’t that they were “more lenient.” But they were good and caring teachers that I really liked.
In seventh grade math, we had a very popular teacher. Then she left in the middle of the year. We got what was supposed to be a permanent replacement. She was new to teaching. Kids were horrible. After a while, they pulled her out and brought in a veteran teacher. She had the class whipped back into shape in no time.

Yah, sometimes it’s better the keep the coach and fire the team. But, it’s much more difficult.
