Of all the many knots that I know – and as an Eagle Scout & long-time truckdriver, it’s a bunch of them – the sheepshank is the only one with no practical use.
Actually, Fred Rogers rarely asked that question, and really only in the early years of “Mister Rogers Neighborhood.” I have heard him ask it on the show.

And the knot actually looks like a sheepshank. To me it would be more convincing if grandpa were holding the ends of the rope.
