    I threw the two foot “present” I got Sunday, over the fence. With our luck the world’s largest zucchini plant will grow in the forest and climb in our windows at night.I love zucchini,, but nice young tender ones, not those big enough to be lethal weapons!

    I don’t mind zucchini. I actually like zucchini – but I can’t stand green beans. And yet when my mother once planted them, that was the one crop that had a banner year.

    My wife, bless her, grows everything. She insists on growing zucchini, though. When even the foraging bears ate every last onion and garlic plant on the plot but didn’t touch the zucchini, she still refuses to acknowledge that zucchini is such a loss that even wild animals know that the caloric effort to eat the stuff is higher than the caloric return from the zucchini itself…

    That’s a myth that nobody likes zucchini. Only people who don’t know how to cook or bake don’t like it. I make killer zucchini bread, and a delicious zucchini ragout with tomato, onion, garlic, bacon, and herbs.

    Calabacitos: Simmer thinly sliced zucchini, yellow squash, onion with oregano, cumin, garlic, green chili. Drain off the water and top with your favorite cheese. Careful with the chili, some is quite hot. The best green chili is from New Mexico. (full disclosure, shameless promotion)

    Great to see that Mr. Dunham knows the proper plural of “cannon”! “Cannons” would refer to different types of cannon: “I have seen three cannons today; smoothe-bore, ten-pound; six-pound naval; and rifle-bore, sixteen-pound. My friend has four ten-pound, rifle-bore cannon.”

    I like zucchini, baked in chocolate cake, bread, or a casserole, or fried….Just not too many at one time.

    I want your zucchini, Charlie!!! Mine aren’t producing & my tomatoes are still green. I’ll trade you zucchini now & give you tomatoes when they’re finally ripe :-DI love making zucchini relish, pickles, roasting with cheese & sausage crumbles, sauteing with tomatoes & onions, etc. etc.
