It’s good to have someone stand up for you, have your back. I used to work in an auto parts factory in the late 70’s early 80’s. Some of the guys used to take a delight in giving me a hard time. By that I mean they would raz me a lot, ridicule me sometimes, and in general be a real pain the rear. Yet one day some big guy who I did not know was going after me and threatening me over a silly incident. I do not recall why he was mad at me. I remember feeling threatened and honestly I was really stressed. Those same guys—the ones who used to be unmerciful in teasing me at times— were sitting having a coffee and when they saw this guy going after me they immediately jumped up from where they were sitting and rushed over to me and told the guy off in no uncertain terms. The big guy who was scaring the crap out of me took off and left me alone. Despite the fact my co-workers would raz me from time to time when push came to shove they defended me and did not hesitate to do so. I still miss those guys and the others. The thing about this factory is that if your peers gave you a hard time that meant you were accepted. As for Nate—way to go! :-)
